Where to begin?
I noted on here earlier in the year that I had left my full time job at SeaWell Networks. I spent the past 2 months more or less trying to decide what would be the best next role. I am lucky enough to be working in an industry that is well, on fire right now. Online video, streaming video, over the top - call it what you will, right now if you know anything about this space, you probably aren't looking for work, no, like me you're just trying what the best gig might be. And so in the past 8 weeks, Ive spoken to no less than 15 different companies about jobs and had 5 "official" job interviews.
And perhaps its because of the plethora of opportunities out there that I've made the decision that I have - you see, rather than accept a full time role with anyone company, I have decided to revive the company name (Techgeist) I freelanced under years ago and work on a variety of projects for several companies. I'll hold off talking about my customers for now as I'm still getting contracts signed and finalized, but hopefully in the near future I'll be able to discuss them at least a little bit - at minimum, I'll call out companies I mention here that I have some sort of relationship with in the interest of disclosure.
The good news about all this is I will earnestly spend more time on tVU - writing about the industry and hopefully adding some more videos along the way. I want this to be a sounding board for what i see occurring in the industry - what's interesting thats being discussed, what the trends are - and importantly what the trends should be that somehow keep getting missed. I'm pretty excited about the notion of being back to work period, but doing it for myself and being able to pick the projects I work on is the best part!
